Data we collect

None. DuVoca has no account and no analytics, advertising or tracking code. The content of your conversations (audio, recognised text and translations) is never sent to us or to any speech or translation service. Nothing is ever uploaded. We do not sell any data.

Apple gives us aggregated App Store figures, such as downloads and sales. If you agreed in your device’s settings to share data with app developers, Apple may also share usage statistics and crash reports with us that do not identify you.

If you write to us, we keep your email and any diagnostics log you attach only as long as we need to answer you, and we delete them on request.

On-device processing

Speech recognition runs on your iPhone or iPad, with a speech model downloaded to the app.

DuVoca translates with Apple’s Translation framework on your device; Apple states that it may collect usage and performance metrics for this framework, such as the app’s identifier and the source and target languages, but not the original or translated text.

Microphone

DuVoca uses the microphone only during a conversation you start, and you can pause or end it at any time. iOS asks for your permission the first time. If you say no, DuVoca cannot hear the conversation; you can change your choice in Settings.

Saved conversations

While a conversation runs, DuVoca records its audio on your device. When a conversation of 30 seconds or more ends, DuVoca asks whether to keep it. A kept conversation (its audio, text and translations) stays on your device until you delete it, and deleting it removes it for good. A conversation you do not keep, and any shorter one, is deleted when it ends.

Downloads

Before the first conversation, DuVoca downloads its speech model. The files come from our download mirror on Cloudflare (vocatim-models.vocatim.workers.dev) and from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), which hosts the original model. As with any download, these servers see your IP address and which file is requested. Cloudflare and Hugging Face process this to deliver the file, under their own privacy policies; we use these requests only to serve the files. Nothing from your conversations is sent.

The language packs for translation are downloaded by iOS from Apple. Other than these downloads, DuVoca goes online only through Apple’s services, such as the App Store and iCloud.

Free minutes

DuVoca counts the conversation minutes you have used in the free version. The count is a single number with nothing from your conversations. It is kept on your device and, if you use iCloud, also in your private iCloud storage, so that reinstalling the app does not reset it; we have no access to it. With iCloud off, the count stays on your device only.

Diagnostics log

To help us fix a problem, DuVoca’s settings can share a diagnostics log. It records the app and iOS versions, the device model and technical events with their times, but nothing that was said: no text and no audio. It leaves your device only if you choose to share it, for example by email.

Sharing and export

When you share a conversation as text or audio, it goes only where you choose, for example to Mail, Messages or Files.

Purchases

The one-time unlock is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.

Children

DuVoca is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version.
